Game Description & Reviews:
Classic beat 'em up game, street punks have taken your girlfriend and it's up to you, Billy Lee, to teach them a lesson. If you like spin-kicking chicks with chains, sparring with giant bald men, and arrows telling you when and where to "Go!", this game is for you.
The Double Dragon series is very much fun in the arcade, but most of the early console efforts were disappointments compared to the arcade games. This is especially true of the first Double Dragon game for NES. The gameplay is still fun and interesting, especially when you can use weapons, but there is no 2 player cooperative mode. There is a 2-player versus mode, but most of the fun of Double Dragon II (especially) is absent from this game. You also do not start out with the fun moves (such as the jump kick), but must learn them through accumlating points and levelling up. The graphics and sound are decent, especially for the time of release.
Double Dragon is a brawler game for the NES. It is a port of the arcade game. While it is a port, the graphics and sound are still good. You are on a quest trying to save your kidnapped girlfriend. You can punch, kick, throw and do many other moves against your enemies. There are different enemy types that have their own set of moves. You can pick up weapons and use them against enemies. The levels are long and detailed. If you enjoy brawlers, you'll enjoy this game.
