Game Description & Reviews:
An awesome old NES platformer in which you explore a massive labrynthian world with the super-specialized tank SOPHIA, or on foot. The music and graphics are great, and there's plenty of upgrades for both SOPHIA and your gun.
Blaster Master is a platformer and a run and gun videogame developed by Sunsoft on 1988. The game features a character named Jason who chases after his frog that leaped out of its fish bowl and jump over a radioactive box, the frog grows to an unimaginable size and starts digging the ground, Jason slides through the hole and ends up in a cavern where there is a huge battle tank named Sophia the third, what Jason didn’t know was that beneath the earth there where many mutant beings, Jason ends up fighting the mutant beings to find the where bouts of Fred and to Defeat the Plutonium Boss and save Earth.
Blaster Master has two forms of gameplay, one where the player rides on Sophia The Third in a 2D platform mode, and the second one where the player gets off Sophia and can go on a 2D platform or inside caves that only Jason can go in and enter a top-down perspective.
While riding Sophia the player is able to use Sophia’s main canon, homing missiles, thunder bolts that defeat enemies beneath Sophia and tridirectional missile.
While controlling Jason the player can use Jason’s upgradable gun and fire unlimited grenades that pack a punch but they must be use at very close range, if Jason takes damage his main gun degrades and he must find gun upgrades hidden across the stage. Jason is the one that fights the boss on each level, after defeating them Jason gets upgrade parts for Sophia, from a more powerful main cannon, to be able to ride on walls, hover and dive and be able to reach and go through 8 levels which the player has to go back and forth to uncover paths to his next objective.
