Game Description & Reviews:
In his greatest Game Boy adventure, Mario faces off against his evil rival Wario, who has captured Mario Land and turned it into his private playground.
To toss Wario off his ill-gotten throne, Mario must search all-new worlds for the six golden coins that unlock the gate to Mario's castle. A mob of monsters, old and new, seek to stop him. Along the way, through 6 zones, Mario can nab Power Mushrooms, Super Stars and Fire Flowers for extra power. And if he eats the Magic Carrot, he'll turn into a high-flying hare.
The battery pack saves your game in progress in this biggest Game Boy Mario adventure yet.
A very good Super Mario game, considering Gameboy doesn't have very many to offer.
The gameplay is very reminiscent to that of Super Mario World or even comparable to the New Super Mario Bros. One feature that I love about this is when you have a special power up, for instance the flower power, if you get hit you go back down to super mario, and if you get hit again you go back to your tiny version of Mario. This is pretty nice, so in other words you have 3 hits before you lose a life rather than 2.
The levels are all fun and refreshing - each one very different than the last. The difficulty on these is pretty average to easy. The last few levels are quite challenging, but if it's too much there's an option of going into easy mode, which helps a TON (slows courses down, removes enemies, etc.).
My only real issue with the game would be the 6 golden coins. At the end of each of the six worlds there is a boss fight in which you must undergo. If you beat it, you earn a golden coin. However, the moment you run out of lives and get a game over, you lose all of your golden coins and therefore must go back through each boss fight to re-earn it again. This is okay for some, but some of those boss fights are VERY hard and it's quite annoying when you lose it all like that.
