Sango Fighter is a 2D fighting games from Panda Entertainment based on the era of Chinese Three Kingdoms. The Chinese version was released on 1993, followed by the English version on 1994. I first played this game when I was 14, and was one of my favorite fighting games beside Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat.
There are 3 main modes of the game: Story Mode, Battle Mode, and Versus Mode. In Story Mode you can only use 5 characters, the Five Tiger Generals of Shu (Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Zhao Yun, Ma Chao, and Huang Zhong). The goal is to eliminate all Wei Generals and defeat the final boss, Chao-Chao.
In Battle Mode, there are 12 playable Three Kingdoms fighters you can choose (Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Zhao Yun, Ma Chao, and Huang Zhong, Xa Hao Yuan, Xu Huang, Xu Zu, Xa Hao Dun, Dian Wei, Lu Bu, and Chao-Chao). There is also a “Pigeon Shooting” mini game in battle mode.
The music and SFX is not too bad, and the graphic is nice (there is an option to turn on/off the background animations).
