Game Description & Reviews:
Wizards and Warriors is one of the best early games released for the NES. It is a 2D action game where you control a knight in armor who can jump amazingly well. He has a sword and some amazing weapons, including an amazing boomerang-dagger that is one of the best weapons ever allowed in an NES game.
I should mention here that it is very difficult to play this game without dying. That is not a problem, because you have unlimited continues. What is more, you get to keep all of your items when you continue.
This is one of those games that you can play when you have had a difficult day where nothing goes right. Here, you have the freedom to go wild and fight monsters however you wish. The animations and sounds are also amazingly good for the time. The music is repetitive, but it is usually good. This game belongs on the same pinnacle as Metroid and other excellent early NES games.
The main downside is that as in Metroid, some of the jumps are frustrating. You are expected to bounce off enemies in order to get into some places. Also, remember that this is an action game. There is no role-playing, no talking to random people, and no other complications of that sort. It is just plain hack and slash fun with no major negative consequences for dying.
Fun, but really tough game where your pitted against wizards that are real tough so you can rescue the maidens they have imprisoned, its really fun, but pretty tough.
