Game Description & Reviews:
Personally one of my favorite nes games of all time, and maybe even my favorite, you play as Samus Aran, a bounty hunter, and you must traverse the planet, through various terrains, destroying creatures, and also retrieving upgrades, giving yourself more powers and abilities. A platformer shooter that has held the test of time very well, including bosses and fun gameplay, great for trying to get 100%, Speedruns or just playing for fun.
In the future, the Galactic Federation and the pirates of planet Zebes are at war. Pirates have stolen an unknown life-form, recently discovered on the planet SR388. The life-form, designated "Metroid", is in a state of suspended animation and, according to analysis, was the cause of the complete destruction of SR388. If the Metroid ever got loose, the alien could destroy countless other systems. It is up to the space bounty hunter Samus Aran to land on Zebes and find her way through the perilous terrains of Brinstar and Norfair, destroy the Pirates, as well as their alien enforcers, Ridley and Kraid, and rid the planet of the alien life form before the pirates complete their plans of world destruction.
This is where one of the best known series started! You play as Samus Aran, a bounty hunter on a mission to destroy the Mother Brain. You start out with nothing but a short-range laser cannon, but you will eventually be able to kill metroids easily. This game is one of the best NES titles for an all-item speedrun or even just take it nice and slow.
In this game, all you have to do is to destroy the Mother Brain from the Metroids, who were harmless and can destroy the galaxy. You are in the planet, Zebes. Explore Zebes by finding power-ups, including Wave Beam, Ice Beam, Varia, and so on. Once you have enough power-ups, you will be able to defeat the Mother Brain by any means necessary.
In Metroid, you play as Samus Aran, a bounty hunter in a suit of power armor, as you travel through the caves of Planet Zebes to retrieve the eponymous Metroids.
The gameplay in Metroid was so original at the time that it spawned its own sub-genre of games, commonly referred to as "Metroidvania" games, sharing the title with Castlevania (although Symphony of the Night, the game that shared the gameplay style with Metroid, didn't come out until ten years later). Game progression is semi-open ended, where you can choose where you go, but you need to collect certain power-ups before you can advance into certain areas. Along the way, you'll battle a wide variety of alien creatures of all shapes and sizes. To aid you, your suit initially comes equipped with nothing but a blaster, but power ups are located all throughout Zebes.
