Game Description & Reviews:
Castlevania is a real classic. A game that started a legendary franchise that continues to this day. There's just something really cool about the premise: A lone hero goes against great odds to exert his destiny as a descendant of a family sworn to defeat Dracula whenever he appears. The hero of the game, Simon Belmont, enters Dracula's castle armed with a legendary whip called "Vampire Killer". He can also use secondary weapons like holy water, cross boomerang and knives by collecting hearts that act as an "ammo" for them. The game proceeds in a linear fashion and includes a lot of challenging platforming and enemies. Player must defeat all sorts of monsters such as undead, skeletons, mummies and the Grim Reaper before his final confrontation with count Dracula
This game has some actual atmosphere which a lot to say about a game this old. This is mostly because the awesome music. In my opinion Castlevania has some of the very best music on NES. This includes classics like Vampire Killer, Wicked Child and Heart of Fire. Controls appear to be somewhat clumsy at first (namely because the character's movement cannot be adjusted at mid-air) but they work well after some practicing. Bottom line is that this is a fun game and certainly worth trying out.
